Watch Lauren Alaina, Seth Ennis Perform ‘Three’ During CRS 2017
During Universal Music Group's luncheon at the 2017 Country Radio Seminar on Thursday (Feb. 23), Lauren Alaina brought along Seth Ennis to perform "Three," one of the songs from her newest album, Road Less Traveled.
"I'm probably the only Universal artist that would bring a Sony artist with her to play," Alaina joked as she introduced Ennis to the radio programmers and media members assembled at the Ryman Auditorium. "He's one of my best friends."
Readers can press play on the video above to watch Alaina and Ennis perform "Three," a song about the sacrifices Alaina (and plenty of other artists) have made for their careers. The last line of the song's chorus is "six years of missing home for three minutes on the radio."
"It’s probably my favorite song I’ve ever written," Alaina tells Taste of Country. “[The music business] is crazy and fast-paced, and [I'm] out of town all the time, in a different hotel every day, and a different city, missing birthdays and missing things with my family. I wanted to write a song to tell them that I’ve missed them too, but I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”
Alaina first made a name for herself when she was a teenager, when she placed second during Season 10 of American Idol in 2011.
“It was the summer before my sophomore year that I tried out, so I missed home almost immediately,” Alaina admits. “But I knew that this is what I wanted, and that’s what you’ve got to do when you want something. So it’s worth it, but I wanted to write a song acknowledging that.”
