Wendy Lynn’s Dad Celebrates His 80th Birthday

This weekend I went home to Michigan for my dad’s 80^th Birthday party.  I haven’t been overly close with my dad, in fact none of my sisters and brother are.  My dad grew up on a farm and has worked hard all his life but I don’t think his mom and dad were affectionate parents. My dad rarely ever hugged us when we were young or said I love you because it wasn't said to him as a kid.  I admit in recent years especially after my mom passed away I've seen dad change a bit and he will say I love you back if you say it to him first.  I’m glad that we were able to invite aunts and uncles to share his birthday and even though dad didn't act overly excited I know that it meant a lot to him that all his kids were home to celebrate with him.
