You may have noticed that I’ve been away and off air for a few weeks leaving my show in the capable hands of Rob Banks and Craig Matthews, I thank them very much for covering for me.
On May 3rd I had a breast reduction surgery to alleviate the chronic back pain that I suffered all my adult life. I didn’t make this decision lightly and it’s something that I had thought about for a number of years before I finally decided to move forward with the procedure.
After researching and speaking with a plastic surgeon I made the final decision to have the surgery and I began to tell my close friends and co-workers about my decision.  Many of them were a tad shocked and asked why would I do such a thing? Any woman with a larger bust size can sympathize I’m sure. I suffered from back, shoulder and neck pain every single day of my life. I lived my life being uncomfortable and having shoulder indentations from bra straps that would dig into to my skin. I also found it was hard to find the perfect bra to accommodate and help with the day to day stress that was put on my back.
It has been 3 weeks since the surgery, it’s been somewhat of a difficult recovery but even through this I know I made the right decision for me. Immediately following the surgery I felt the strain in my back, neck and shoulders had been lifted. Yes I have pain from the surgery, but knowing that will all eventually heal and go away makes me excited about my new normal that I will soon experience.
I would recommend the surgery to any woman suffering from the kind of pain I had because of my larger bust size. It may not be for everyone, but it certainly was the right choice for me. The only change I think I would make if I could would be having the surgery 10-15 years ago.
