What’s With The Red Equal Signs On Facebook, Twitter + Instagram?

You may have seen a flood of profile picture changed on social media over the past 24 hours.

That's because the Human Rights Campaign, which is advocating equal marriage rights for all, is promoting a campaign featuring the pink equal sign with red background as the Supreme Court begins hearings on gay marriage today (March 27) in Washington.

In response, they have gained much support from the online community.

Tuesday (March 26) in Washington, DC, the Supreme Court debated over California's ban on same-sex marriage and the ban on a national level. No decision has been made, but issues that were major topics were questions like: May Congress withhold federal benefits from same-sex couples married in those states where it is legal?
