20-39-year-olds are driving this surge; these age groups accounted for 43% of all cases reported this period. 30-39 year old age group had the highest 7-day case rate per 100,000 persons (2,704 per 100,000 persons). Weekly positivity for week ending 1/1/2022 = 20%, up from 10.4% the previous week.

226,972 laboratory-confirmed breakthrough cases of COVID-19 among fully-vaccinated people in New York State, which corresponds to 1.8% of the population of fully-vaccinated people 12-years or older.

 

12,916 hospitalizations with COVID-19 among fully-vaccinated people in New York State, which corresponds to 0.10% of the population of fully-vaccinated people 12-years or older.

The most recent data provided by the New York State Department of Health, as of December 28, 2021, indicates that in two weeks, COVID-19 cases among the fully vaccinated have almost doubled,
