The Worst Case Scenario For The Bills In The 2022 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is one of the most fun things on the calendar year for NFL fans. The build up is unmatched, as fans try to predict who their favorite team will select.

As for the Buffalo Bills, they have filled a lot of holes in free agency; the biggest being star edge rusher Von Miller, who got a 6-year, $120 million contract.

The Bills signed multiple defensive tackles and landed two veteran backup quarterbacks, a second tight end, and a veteran wide receiver.

The Bills also matched the offer sheet for guard Ryan Bates, who will stay in Buffalo for the next four years.

Buffalo is a Super Bowl favorite and likely has the best roster in the entire league. It's a good spot to be in heading into the draft, especially since general manager Brandon Beane loves taking the best player available, regardless of position.

However, the Bills do need depth help at three positions: cornerback, wide receiver, interior offensive line. Many fans and experts have mocked the Bills taking a cornerback or wide receiver, but even with Bates back, an offensive lineman is at least a possibility at pick 25 in the first round.

There is a worst-case scenario for the Bills in this draft, and it centers around a run on wide receivers and the best cornerbacks off the board.

There are quite a few wide receivers that could go between picks 9-25:

Drake London (USC)
Garrett Wilson (Ohio State)
Chris Olave (Ohio State)
Jameson Williams (Alabama)
Jahan Dotson (Penn State)
Treylon Burks (Arkansas)

There's a scenario all but one, or all of them entirely are gone by pick 25. Teams in front of the Bills could use a wide receiver and it's a passing league, driven by offense. They're a premium.

The top corners are Sauce Gardner, Derek Stingley Jr., Andrew Booth Jr. and Trent McDuffie. All of whom are likely gone by pick 25.

The Bills could be left with a dilemma. Draft someone like Skyy Moore (wide receiver at Western Michigan) or Breece Hall (running back at Iowa State), or go with Zion Johnson (guard at Boston College). Moore and Hall could be had a few picks later, so trading down is another possibility.

I don't think trading up is worth it in this draft and the Bills are not desperate for any position or player anyway. If that scenario happens, trading down could happen.

I would be fine with Skyy Moore, who would be a great weapon in the Bills offense. Roger McCreary and Kyler Gordon are fine options if they decide on corner as well.

We shall see what Beane and the Bills decides to do.
