If you have been house hunting in Western New York, you know how competitive the market is.

Since 2020 and the COVID-19 Pandemic, the housing market has been crazy here in Western New York. I bought a home in 2021, and we had put in offers on 12 other homes and were outbid on every single one.

Even the home that we bought, we paid well over the asking price.

So this listing for a home in Cheektowaga is a breath of fresh air.

$1 Home For Sale In Cheektowaga, New York

According to the listing on Zillow, this home on Diane Drive in Cheektowaga is listed for just one dollar.

Now, you think that a home selling for $1 would be falling apart or in the worst neighborhood in New York State, but none of that is true.

According to the listing, the home is completely remodeled, with a new furnace, new cabinets, backsplashes, floors, and more.

The home has three bedrooms and one bath and is just over 1100 square feet.

You can check out the listing HERE.

So why would the owner list the home for just $1?

Well, that is simple, just because the home is listed for $1 doesn't mean that the owners will sell it for that price.

Based on the renovations and the location, according to a realtor I spoke with, the home will sell in the mid-250k to low 300k. which is around the average for homes in the area.

But when you list it for $1, you get plenty of people to look at it. Even if you are not in the market for a home, seeing a home listed for that price will make you look.

Of course, it could backfire, and the owner could get low-ball offers and not get the value of the home.
