Watch Brett Alan Freeze His Parts Off With CryoTherapy
I had heard about this treatment from a friend who had tried it to alleviate some pain he had from playing years of hockey. I thought, after taking a few years of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it might work for me. It’s Cryotherapy, and it was a really cool experience with our friends at Pur Life.
If you’re tired of taking ibuprofen or asprin every time you work out, or just after a long day, cryotherapy (cryogenic chamber therapy) might be for you.
The idea is to get your body to release natural endorphins to reduce inflammation on its own. They do this by “shocking your body” so that it releases them naturally.
You are enclosed in a chamber that is cooled by liquid nitrogen down to temperatures as low as -156 degrees C (-249 degrees F). Your body immediately goes into defense mode and sends endorphins to relieve the pain.
I know…it sounds scary right? It wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, it was cold. But not like standing outside in a blizzard cold. There is no wind chill, so you don’t feel that stinging pain.
It was actually a really cool experience. If you have chronic pain, if you have inflammation in your joints, or you suffer from arthritis or fibromyalgia, you might find it incredibly helpful.
