Another popular Western New York tradition has been victim of COVID. The German tradition, Waldfest, the 'party in the woods', has been officially canceled by SGTV Edelweiss, the organization that has put on the even for decades in Marilla at Spring Garden grove.

The group has been throwing the Waldfest to celebrate the German heritage and culture here in Western New York since 1976.

We are sorry to say, that due to the ongoing challenges and uncertainties surrounding COVID, the organizers have decided to cancel Waldfest for the summer of 2021. The health and safety of our long-time patrons, volunteers and vendors comes first. Be well. Prosit!", the group wrote on their Facebook page.

If you have never been to the Waldfest before, it is one of the most fun events of the Summer. You will be completely engulfed in the German culture including eating the foods like Sauerbraten,
bratwurst, and sauerkraut, the dancing from the schuhplattler and of course all the beer you could imagine. It will be, without a doubt one of the most memorable days you have during the Summer.

Take a look at the dancing and entertainment you will see at the Waldfest here below!

Here is to hoping we can gather, see each other, DRINK together and celebrate once again in July 2022!
