Sabres Goalie’s Hilarious Self-Description Shows How Brilliant He Really Is
Alex Lyon has proven to be brilliant on the ice in the playoffs for the Buffalo Sabres. But people forget that before he was a hockey player, he was a student at a very prestigious college.
Lyon describes himself as an "amorphous blob"
At a press conference this week, Buffalo Sabres goalie Alex Lyon talked about how it felt to be one of the oldest guys in the locker room. He explained that essentially he's used to trying to fit in in different situations. He's been on multiple teams and he's done his best to morph into whatever that team needs him to be the most. Then he went on to mention that he's like an "amorphous blob."
You don't hear people describe themselves that way often.
It does make sense though. To be amorphous means that you lack a definite shape or structure. You just fit whatever container you're put in. While it gave the press a laugh, it really showed a pretty clear understanding of himself, and his vocabulary.
Alex Lyon went to Yale
Sometimes, it's easy to forget that some athletes are very intelligent. It isn't very often that you hear they went to an Ivy League college. But just like former Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who went to Harvard, Alex Lyon was an Ivy League college student. However, instead of Harvard, he went to Yale.
He was only there for 3 years, because while he was there, he set multiple records and went on to sign with the Philadelphia Flyers before he graduated. He left after just three years.
Lyon has also been brilliant on the ice with the Sabres since taking over for Ukko Pekka-Luukkonen in the playoffs. He will be back in the net tonight as the Sabres take on Montreal for game 2 of the second round.
