Remember when Anquan Boldin was a Buffalo Bill?  Don't feel bad if you don't.  It was brief.  But it looks like he might be spending a little more time in Buffalo this upcoming year.  He won't be putting on pads this time though.  You might just see him cheering on his son.

Here's the kicker...it won't be on the football field.  Anquan Boldin Junior is coming to UB to play basketball.

Anquan Boldin is a former Buffalo Bill

You may remember the name Anquan Boldin from his time in the NFL.  He had a 14 year career playing for teams like the Baltimore Ravens, the Arizona Cardinals, the San Francisco 49ers, the Detroit Lions, and yes, the Buffalo Bills.

Sadly, we didn't get to see much of the pro-bowl receiver and former Walter Payton Man of the year.  Just two weeks after signing a one-year deal with the Bills, he decided that he wanted to retire to focus on humanitarian efforts.

This time though, we will get to see the beginning of his son's career as he starts his journey to become a professional basketball player at the University at Buffalo.

Anquan Boldin Jr. makes the announcement on Twitter

We knew that there was interest in coming here.  He had posted a picture of himself along with his family on social media days before.  Although the initial picture was just to thank UB for the visit back on May 18th.

The hashtag changed over the last hour though as he made an official commitment to come to UB.

Why Anquan Boldin Jr chose Buffalo

His letter says it all.  He says that he immediately felt at home as soon as he set foot on the campus.  He added that the team welcomed him genuinely right off the bat and that the coaches' transparency and encouragement were comforting.  He feels like Buffalo is the right place for him to take the next step toward his goal of becoming a professional basketball player.
