June is National Safety Month and — as Rich Barnes from The Barnes Firm put it — it's a very appropriate month to pay attention to safety in our daily lives. Summer is upon us, the weather in Western New York is good, COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted significantly, and people are out and about again doing all kinds of activities.

I asked Rich about ways we could observe safety this month and included his feedback below – read on to learn more.

Rich shared a good place to start thinking about safety is around our own homes. Are there repairs needed to stairs or railings on your porch or patio that could cause an injury? Do you have a first-aid kit that isn’t expired? Do you have someone to check in on elderly family members who may be more prone to slips and falls? You may want to consider a medical alert device to help manage their care.

And, if you should happen to find yourself in an emergency, remain calm.  Being able to think logically will help you, or someone you’re trying to help, avoid further injury and immediate danger.

If you’ve been injured and need help, call The Barnes Firm at (800) 800-0000.

You can also fill out a contact request form at TheBarnesFirm.com for a free case evaluation. Or call their Downtown Buffalo or Grider Street office now – it could be the best call you make!
