Drive Your Tractor To School Day Happening This Weekend At Eden School District
This weekend, students at Eden Central School District will have a chance to show off their pride in a life in agriculture with "Drive Your Tractor To School Day."
What is "Drive Your Tractor To School Day?"
Drive Your Tractor To School Day is a tradition that is exactly what it sounds like. Students get to drive the tractors that they use on their farm, or the ones that they mow their lawn with, to school. It's an opportunity for them to experience a little freedom by driving themselves to school while showing off their pride in agriculture.
The students will get to school between 6 am and 6:45 am. They'll have a chance to show them off to the other students, cook some breakfast, and enjoy the morning together. Then at 10:25 am, they'll have a chance to be in a parade that will go up and down the street where the school is (Schoolview Road).
Why do schools have Drive Your Tractor To School Days?
You've heard the phrase, "No Farms, No Food," right? Remember what things were like during the pandemic when our country was struggling with supply chain issues? Imagine if no one wanted to farm in our country anymore. If no one wanted to grow vegetables or raise livestock, our entire country would end up relying on other people to send food to us.
These students are the ones who are literally putting food on your plate.
Can we come to watch the tractors if we aren't students?
On a social media post about Drive Your Tractor To School Day recently, I saw a comment saying, "I have a little boy who isn't in school yet who LOVES everything about tractors. Where can we come see them?"
If you'd like to support these young agriculturalists, Eden will be holding their Drive Your Tractor To School Day this Friday, 9/25. The tractors will be in the parking lots and will also be driving down Schoolview Road after 10 am. You can certainly watch the parade from the street.
Of course, they will be driving them home that afternoon also. So be aware that if you will be driving in the Eden area, you might see them with you on the road.
