You don't ever think of huge snakes being in Western New York, but for one woman in Derby late last week, that is precisely what she found in her own yards.

According to WKBW's Ryan Clark Arbogast, a woman from Derby found a nine-foot boa constrictor just feet away from her front door on Friday.

Yes, a boa constrictor.

The snake was reported and taken to the SPCA. They do not know where the snake came from, but are assuming it was someone's pet and was either escaped or released into the wild.

Boa constrictors are non-venomous, but are not native to this region. They are famously kept in captivity by those wishing to have them as pets, which we have to assume is where this huge snake came from, since they're not native to Western New York (nowhere close in fact).

I couldn't even imagine seeing a snake that large in my own yard. I'm not one to get scared of spiders and snakes, but when a snake is that big, that is a reason to get spooked.
