Check Out the Snake Clay Found in the Wood Pile
Spring is in the air and the snakes are in the yard! I was doing some work around the house and found a few snakes. This one that I have a photo of was the largest of them.I am not a fan of snakes. But I realize that when you are outdoors as often as I am that you may see one or two.
This is a Garter Snake and I found it curled up beneath a large chunk of wood I was about to split. I gently picked it (and the others around it) up with a shovel and relocated it to the woods.
I am not the kid of guy who picks snakes up with my hands. Call em a wimp or whatever you want to call me, but I draw the line at handling snakes (or spiders). Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to harm them because I do realize their value to the yard and and gardens. However, one of my fears has always been to be bitten by a snake.
I once had a cable guy remove a large snake from a house that I owned in Orchard Park. Lucky for me, the cable guy was also a snake charmer of sorts and was able to take that snake away. I don't think the cable company charges for that sort of added service, but it was something I was willing to pay for at the time so I tipped the guy lunch money!
