The last time the Buffalo Bills scored 45 points or more in a game was back in 2010 when they put up 49 against a terrible Cincinnati Bengals team after trailing 31-14 at halftime. The Bills won that one 49-31. The last time the Bills scored 45 or more at home was back in 1991 when they beat Pittsburg 52-34.

Sunday against the Colin Kaepernick-led San Francisco 49ers the Bills rolled up 491 yards in offense, the 10th most in team history, 312 of it on the ground in a 45-16 rout of the 49ers.   LeSean McCoy led the way rushing for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Tyrod Taylor ran for 68 yards and passed for a pair of touchdowns. Justin Hunter caught a 30-yard scoring pass for his second touchdown in two games with the Bills. Robert Woods had a 5-yard touchdown reception that put the game out of reach for the 49ers.

The day began with fans wondering what Kaepernick would do during the national anthem before taking the field as the 49ers starter. And just as he has for every game this season he knelt on the sideline while the fans honored the flag and the country. When he took the field he was loudly booed.

But Kaepernick played about as well as any quarterback could play with the limited talent the 49ers have. And his play kept the game in doubt until the Bills pulled away in the 3rd quarter. He finished with 66 yards rushing in addition to a touchdown pass.

A scary moment in the 2nd quarter when LeSean McCoy was injured after catching a short pass. He remained on the field while being attended to with an apparent knee injury, but walked off on his own and was cleared to play in the second half. After returning he ran for 34 yards and a touchdown.

Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander had one of the Bills four sacks and that gives Alexander sacks in each of the Bills first six games. He leads the team with eight sacks for the season.

The Bills now have won four straight games to improve to 4-2 on the season and with New England winning at Cincinnati, the Patriots remain one game up on the Bills in the AFC East. The Bills play at Miami next week and if they beat the Dolphins it will set up a huge rematch with the Patriots in Buffalo on October 30th.
