Is There A “Rule Of 3?” Yes, And The Buffalo Bills Are Proving It
The number “3” is one we have been hearing so much lately, but it has more significance than we may know, and I think a lot of us have realized this once we started to pay more attention to the number and how often it presents itself.

In a religious context, number 3 is considered to be a divine symbol that represents the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
But even outside of religion, the number 3 has other symbolism as well. The ancient Greek philosopher, Pythagoras, (known famously for creating the Pythagorean Theorem), considered the #3 to be the “perfect number” – the number of harmony, wisdom, and understanding. It’s also known as the number of time, past, present, and future; birth, life, and death.
Pythagoras believed that the number 3 stood for good fortune, and the world seems to agree, especially after the incredible recovery by Buffalo Bills safety #3 Damar Hamlin.
We saw tweets from all over the world, sharing their connections to the number 3, before it took national TV by storm once again.
On January 3, the Buffalo Sabres played an incredible game and had a chilling performance from Tage Thompson. He scored 3 goals, it was his 3rd hat trick of the season, his 30th goal of the season, and scored 3 minutes into OT.
All of this occurred just one day after #3 Damar Hamlin’s injury.
But the #3 was prevalent before we really became aware of it.
On January 12, 1991, about 32 years ago, former Buffalo Bills coach Marv Levy was photographed holding up 3 fingers in a playoff game against the Miami Dolphins.
He was also wearing a shirt with 3 letters, showing DAM….
The first 3 letters of…DAMar Hamlin’s name.
And, not to point out the obvious, but guess how long it’s been since the Buffalo Bills have been to the Super Bowl?
On January 31, it will have been 30 years since the Buffalo Bills’ last Super Bowl appearance.
Something is telling me that the rule of 3 is very real, and the Buffalo Bills are “making it happen now, we’re on the move now, we got that spirit, a whole lot of spirit, yeah.”
