The Buffalo Bills' season is over after their third straight AFC Divisional round loss, once again to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Bills won't look the same in 2024, considering Spotrac is projecting them to be $43 million over the salary cap and they many pending free agents this March.

Those free agents include Micah Hyde, Leonard Floyd, A.J. Epenesa, DaQuan Jones, Dane Jackson, Gabe Davis, Shaq Lawson, Jordan Phillips and Taylor Rapp.

There's no doubt at the three positions that the Bills have to address: wide receiver, defensive line and safety.

Most Bills fans agree that they have to address wide receiver early in the 2024 NFL Draft and perhaps use two draft picks on the position. However, general manager Brandon Beane did make a move at wide receiver ahead of the Bills playoff game vs. the Chiefs.

The Bills signed wide receiver K.J. Hamler to a reserve-futures contract.

Hamler was a second-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2020. He was looked at as one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL after his rookie year, but after that, he couldn't stay healthy.

Hamler dealt with nagging hamstring injuries and a torn ACL in 2021. He was also diagnosed with pericarditis in the summer of 2023 and waived by the Denver Broncos with a non-football illness. He spent a grief time with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023 on their practice squad.

Hamler is a speedster. He's only 5'9'' but was looked at as a weapon for the Broncos in 2020, when they spent a second round pick on him coming out of Penn State.

A reserve/future contract is typically for practice squad players. Hamler will have to prove himself in mini camp and then training camp, but he's only 24 years old and the ability is there. We will see what happens but it's a good flyer for Beane to take.
