Buffalo Bisons Hire New Manager For 2021 Season
It looks like the Buffalo Bisons have done something that a lot of Buffalo Sabres fans wish they would do, hire a new manager.
Yesterday the team announced that former Bisons' All-Star Casey Candaele will become the team's 22nd manager.
Candaele played several years in the major leagues with the Montreal Expos, Houston Astros, and Cleveland Indians. Candaele spent the past season as the manager of the Vancouver Canadians.
Candaele's family also has some history with Baseball. His mother and sister both played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League which was depicted in the movie "A League Of Their Own".
The Bisons are expected to start their season on May 4th at home against Worchester after it was announced that all games in the Triple-A minor's system would be canceled in the month of April. The league also announced that those games that were canceled would not be made up at a later date.
The Buffalo Bisons did not play in 2020 after the league canceled the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ken Huckaby was named the new manager last season but never had a chance to manage a game with Buffalo. He was let go last September.
The Bisons will have some familiar faces in the dugout this year. Several coaches will be back to work under the watchful eye of Candaele.
Hittin coach Corey Hart, position coach Devon White, pitching coach Jeff Ware and Development Coach Jake McGuiggan are all back in Buffalo this season.
