Buffalo Sabres Build A Lead And Hold On For A Shut Out Win
We had seen this same Buffalo Sabres movie before, but this time it had a much better ending. The Sabres won their first home game of the season on Saturday, taking a 3-0 lead and holding on for a 3-0 win over the Florida Panthers.
Sam Reinhart led the way with a goal and an assist while goaltender Anders Nilsson stopped 33 shots to pick up his first win and first shutout as a Sabre. Johan Larsson opened the scoring with his first goal of the season, with Reinhart, then Kyle Okposo scoring power play goals. After that it was a matter of playing smart hockey, something they didn't do earlier in the week when they built a 3-0 lead on Philadelphia only to lose in a shoot out.
The Sabres play in Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon, then in Minnesota on Tuesday.
