Tyler Ennis celebrates his first period power play goal against the Washington Capitals [NBC Sports Network][/caption]When you compare the lineup the Buffalo Sabres fielded Monday night against the Washington Capitals with the lineup the Sabres started the season with, only eight players remain.  As bad as the Sabres were at the beginning of October, injuries and trades have absolutely decimated the team.  Despite all of that the Sabres put in another good effort against a much more talented team and came away with a point in an overtime shoot out loss.

The Sabres gave the Capitals only two power play chances and the Capitals cashed in on both opportunities.  The Caps were leading 3-2 in the third period when Johan Larsson deflected a Brad Ruhwedel shot into the Capitals net to tie the game forcing overtime, then the shoot out.

The first Capitals shooter scored in the shoot out while all three Sabres missed to give the Caps the win.  It's Buffalo's third straight shoot out loss and the second in a row where no player was able to score.

Tyler Ennis and Cody Hodgson had the other Buffalo goals in regulation, but not enough to prevent the Sabres seventh straight loss.

Just 13 games left in this season of suffering.  The Sabres are in Boston on Tuesday night.
