It was such a big day for Buffalo Sabres fans with a day of celebration in honor of Rick Jeanneret, who called the Sabres games for 51 years.

They dedicated the stretch of Perry Street near the corner of Illinois Street as “RJ Way” in memory of the NHL’s longest-serving announcer and hall-of-fame broadcaster Rick Jeanneret.
The Buffalo Sabres walked down the blue and gold carpet and greeted hockey fans as they made their way inside KeyBank Center, but there were some cool moments that happened both at the Alumni Plaza and inside the arena for the home opener.

Even though we didn’t get the game result we wanted, there were so many moments that tugged on your heartstrings.
Ms. Jeanneret dropped the puck for the first home game of the season after giving a few words about her husband and the Sabres family.
And the Sabres started a new pre-game tradition, and thanks to Damar Hamlin, it went off with a boom!
