Buffalo Named One Of The Best Cities For St. Patrick’s Day
We've said it before, Buffalo is big on St. Patrick's Day. We celebrate like no other city. But how do we rank with other cities that celebrate it?
Wallethub did a study of 200 cities to find out how they celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Buffalo did really well. Although I would guess that there are plenty of Buffalonians that think our ranking is still too low.
We came in at #10 on the list of "The Best Cities To Celebrate St. Patrick's Day."
They ranked the cities on things like how many traditions we uphold, the costs to enjoy yourself for the weekend in that city, the weather, and more. Number 10 is nothing to turn your nose up to. We were ahead of big cities like New York, Orlando, Washington D.C. and more but still came in behind Pittsburgh, Philly, Chicago, and San Francisco. The Top 10 were actually:
- Philadelphia, PA
- Boston, MA
- Pittsburgh, PA
- Chicago, IL
- San Francisco, CA
- Reno, NV
- Naperville, IL
- Tampa, FL
- Yonkers, NY
- Buffalo, NY
I mean, I kind of get how we could fall behind Boston and Philly here...but Naperville, IL. I mean no disrespect to the people of Naperville but...where the heck is Naperville, IL?
The difference between #5 on the list and #10 on the list is just a fraction of a point. It looks like the thing that weighed against us the most is the costs, and the weather (which I think is part of the fun of St. Patrick's Day!).
Oh...and where was Rochester on the list? They fell at #37. Just sayin.
These kinds of rankings are kind of going against our motto of "Keep Buffalo a Secret" but man, it does feel good to have someone who isn't from here tell us how great we are at partying.
