You have been wondering since March if the Disney Store at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls would survive the slow economic rise post pandemic, but it does not look like it will make it.

The last Disney store in Western New York is expected to close on or before September 15. It is one of many Disney stores across the nation that is expected to be shutting down.

Nearly 40 stores were included in the first round of store closings, and it sparked concern about the future of the Disney Store location at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls. Back in March, Disney announced it would shut down close to 60 additional stores in North America in the next round of closings.

Unfortunately, the only Disney Store in Western New York is lumped into the second round of locations being foreclosed.

Five months ago, the company announced that it was reducing the number of stores to focus more on its e-commerce business.

As you might have guessed, the pandemic has played a major role in their decision to reduce locations going forward. It has changed what people expect from a retailer, thus creating a drive for consumers to purchase things online rather than in store.

After the second round of store closures, approximately two dozen stores will remain.

Stephanie Young, president of consumer products of games and publishing, told USA Today, “We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected e-commerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises.”

If you want to buy Disney Store merchandise in the future, you will have to look into an online alternative.
