Here’s When the WWII Bombers Will Fly Over Western New York Today
Western New York will get a treat to see some of the Canadian Snowbirds (think Blue Angels, but Canadian) Wednesday afternoon.
The Canada Forces Snowbirds are scheduled to retire their iconic jets at the end of the 2026 season and then once they are grounded they will wait for the new aircrafts to arrive, but that will not happen for a couple of years.
Wednesday afternoon, some Western New Yorkers are going to get a treat as some of the Snowbirds will be making a couple of passes over Niagara Falls mid- to late Wednesday afternoon -- accompanying a WW II Lancaster bomber and a B-25 Mitchell bomber.
According to 610 CKBT:
Officials say it’s a chance to pay tribute to the proud history of 431 Bomber Squadron, a legacy we’re proud to have inherited.
The planned route will take them over Hamilton Airport, where they will form up with the Lancaster at approximately 2:25 p.m. then head out to Niagara Falls for a couple of passes before returning to Hamilton.
The Snowbirds have shows throughout 2026 before retiring the planes. There are shows across Canada and some even in New York State throughout July.
Where is the closest Air Show happening the Buffalo, New York this year?
The closest show that the Blue Angles will have from Western New York is in Cleveland, Ohio in the beginning of September for the Cleveland National Airshow.
The Geneseo Air Show will be the biggest feature in the Western New York area for 2026 and will happen on July 11-12, 2026.
