The Niagara Falls ARS Had An Important Visitor
Being that Western New York sits along the longest undefended international border in the world, often means that unexpected things happen around the region. That's even more true when you factor in the fact that a large chunk of international goods flows over the borders in Buffalo and Lewiston, New York. Add to that the major tourist attraction known as Niagara Falls, and you can pretty much expect the unexpected.
However, even all of that couldn't really prepare so many for what happened during the day on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as people who live near the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, home of the 914th Air Refueling Wing, the 107th Attack Wing, and more than 1,400 Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and New York Air National Guard personnel.
What seemed like a normal day turned quite interesting when a Boeing C-32B, out of Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, performed a touch-and-go landing at the Air Reserve Station.
While that may not sound all that interesting on its face, when you look into what plane that is exactly, the particular C-32B that came and went had tail number 29028 on it. Which means, it's the plane generally used by the Vice President of the United States, more commonly known as Air Force Two.
While any plane that the Vice-President is flying on is known as Air Force Two, the plane that we typically associate with that call sign is a specialized variant of the 757 called a C-32.
The Air Force flight crew that's assigned to the plane routinely performs touch-and-go landings as practice to ensure they have the skill set that's needed to maintain readiness in case something happens and they need to rapidly take off and climb to high altitudes.
Plus, who could pass up a trip to see Niagara Falls while in training?
