Where Are People Finding Them?
Honestly, these little bugs have been everywhere. They have been on the back doors of houses, flying closely together on a walking path, but the most common place that people have been finding swarms of these bugs are actually on their cars.
The West Seneca Police Department posted a picture of these little bugs on one of their cars, and they want answers.
What Is The Bug?
At first glance, it does seem like these bugs are the winged gnats. However, if you get a closer look at the insect, it becomes more difficult to give a definite answer, because they look slightly different than a gnat has looked over the years.
Granted, gnats could have evolved a little bit over the years and turned into these critters.
Gnats typically are attracted to moisture, and they like to hang out in places like the kitchen drain and potted soil. So it’s kind of odd that we’re finding them in the places that we are.
Has This Happened Before?
According to individual accounts from Western New Yorkers, these “gnats” appeared in the 80s and 90s around Labor Day every year, but they haven’t seen them in years.
Looks like they are making a return, though.
How Do You Get Rid Of Them?
If they really are gnats, you should be able to remove them with homemade gnat killer spray, according to Medicine Net.
You can make this spray with:
- Half a cup of water
- Half a cup of isopropyl alcohol
- A teaspoon of dish liquid
Fill a spray bottle with this mixture, and you should be able to get rid of them.
