The water that hits the roadway along Route 5 in the Athol Springs/ Hamburg area can become very dangerous to drivers. This gets even worse in the winter and early spring when the water freezes as hit hits the road. Things may be different for drivers this season.

You might recall that a few years ago the water and the freezing temperatures combined to completely cover a car in the parking lot near the area. It became the famous "Ice Car". The new wall will hopefully keep much of the water away from the shore and cars.

The forecast calls for some cooler air and even some wet snow over the weekend. The winds may be calm for the next few days but it is just a matter of time before we see those famous white caps on lake Erie.
