Code Red Alert in Hamburg Called Off

Police in the Town of Hamburg issued a Code Red Alert early Tuesday evening while they searched for four men considered armed and dangerous.  Residents were encouraged to stay indoors and not to answer their door to anyone.

The Red Alert was expanded to the City of Lackawanna where police advised residents of Circle Lane, Pellman Place, Willet Road, Berg Road and the area around Truman School to stay inside.

The suspects described as two Hispanic males and two black males fled on foot after a pursuit.  Police on foot and in helicopters searched the South Park/Route 179/Abbott Road/Willet Road area.

After several hours of searching police failed to locate the suspects and discontinued the Code Red.  Residents were told they could resume normal activities.
