Now you see it, now you don't.  I'd like to thank Liz Mantel for donating her one bottle of Crystal Pepsi to a Dale Mussen taste test.  Even if it passed the test there's probably not much I could do to promote it because as of last month it's no longer being produced.

Crystal Pepsi was first introduced in the spring on 1992 using the marketing slogan "you've never seen a taste like this."  The idea was to promote it as a "clear" and "healthy" alternative to colas while retaining the cola taste.  The difference in the first run of Crystal Pepsi was that it was caffeine free.

I tried Crystal Pepsi when it first came out and I didn't care for it.  There was a definite taste difference.  It had a hint of a citrus taste to it.  Did the fact it was caffeine free have anything to do with it?  I'm not sure, but I wasn't a fan and apparently a lot of other people weren't either.  Within a year it was discontinued.

Fast forward 20-plus years to the age of social media and an on-line petition to bring back Crystal Pepsi.  Tens of thousands piled on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, email and even YouTube campaigns to urge the Pepsi Cola Company to reintroduce Crystal Pepsi....and they did.

Last year Crystal Pepsi was reintroduced for a limited run and Liz happened to see some in a local store and thought of me.  She wondered if it really tasted like the real thing and who better to do a taste than me, so here's how it went.
