It's time for this week's Hometown Hero -- brought to you by Keller Chevrolet and Batavia Downs Gaming. Today's Hometown Hero comes to us originally from Alexander. He has already served for six years in the Army so far, and he's still counting. Our Hometown Hero is Sergeant Daniel Henderson.

Daniel joined the army August of 2008. After completing his basic training in Fort Jackson and schooling at Fort Lee, Va., he went on to graduate from airborne school in April 2009. In July 2009, he was deployed to southern Afghanistan for the first time and was there until April 2010. In June that year, he married his high school sweetheart Laura. In February 2011, they were blessed with their first child, Eli.

However, his time was not up with the Army yet. Exactly one year later, he deployed back to Afghanistan for his second tour. While there, he was promoted to sergeant. Less than one year after returning home, they had their second child Peyton in August 2013. In that amount of time, Dan had earned six Army achievement medals and an Army accommodation medal. He is dedicated to the service. So much so that he plans to make the Army a career and stay in for the full 20 years.

We would like to say thank you to Daniel for his service and are happy to call him this week's Hometown Hero.

We will honor a new Hometown Hero each week, and if their name is picked, not only do we mention them on the air but we also dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.

Thank you once again to Daniel Henderson, this week’s Hometown Hero!
