Dean Cain was a budding NFL player in 1988 after graduating from Princeton when he signed as a free agent with the Bills. It was a knee injury in the pre-season that led to him being cut by the Bills.

After being cut, Cain went on to Hollywood where he became Superman in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
