Is Drake Maye Going To Be Buffalo’s Next Most Hated Villain?
Over the years, Buffalo has had plenty of people who we would consider villains to the city. It feels like just about the time you get rid of one, another moves in. The newest one might be a kid who could cause Bills fans headaches for years to come.
Buffalo's most hated villains
There are plenty of reasons why people become villains to Western New Yorkers. Some of them have said things about our city or judged us because we live here. Most of them, however, have to do with sports. Whether they've beaten our teams (time and time again in some cases) or tried to buy them and move them out of town, Buffalo gets a little protective over our Bills and Sabres.
A new villain is being born
This is the first year that the Bills have really had a divisional rival that was any good in years. The Bills have pretty much owned the AFC East for the past 5 years, but this year, they have some real competition. That's easily because of the combined efforts of new head coach Mike Vrabel and new quarterback Drake Maye.
Vrabel is a former New England Patriot who we hated when he played. Now we have new reasons to add him to the villain list. But Maye is new here. He's done a good job of turning this team into a contender and could be a thorn in the Bills' side for a long time. He's young, and he's talented.
Maye hasn't done anything yet, though
So far, he's just been winning. He hasn't said anything bad about Buffalo like Tom Brady did back in the day. He hasn't really done anything cocky on the field like Brian Cox did when he played for Miami. But he's still a young buck.
Keep an eye on him. He could become one of Bills Mafia's most hated players soon.
