Easter will be Colder than Christmas in Western New York

This year, Easter Sunday is a perfect example.  It's not totally out of the ordinary for this part of the country, but this year Easter Sunday is going to be colder in Western New York than it was on Christmas Day.

According to a tweet from WGRZ's Kevin O'Neill, Christmas Day 2021 topped out at a high of 50 degrees.  This coming Easter Sunday, the high is expected to be only 46 here in WNY.

The good news is that things could be much worse.  According to historical data, the coldest Easter Sunday ever recorded in the City of Good Neighbors was just 5 degrees, way back on April 1st, 1923.

There is also a chance that we could see one more round of the white stuff on Dyngus Day, as a snow rain mix is forecast for Monday.  As far as Easter snowfall, we have seen a white Easter 24 times here in Western New York.

On the other side of the coin, we have also seen much warmer Easters in the past.  The record high in Buffalo on Easter Sunday was a balmy 81 degrees on April 18th, 1976.

If you happen to be wondering like me, just why does the date of Easter change every year...I found the answer.   According to the website TimeAndDate.com :

Easter falls on the first Sunday after the Full Moon date, based on mathematical calculations, that falls on or after March 21. If the Full Moon is on a Sunday, Easter is celebrated on the following Sunday.

I think I am now more confused than before I knew the answer.
