New York State Concert Fans Receive Facebook Warning
2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest concert years ever in Western New York, and across the entire state.
Already this year, there have been numerous shows throughout the Buffalo and Western New York area, and we’re just getting started. From Taste of Country in downtown Buffalo to major shows at Darien Lake Amphitheater and even bigger stops farther east in Albany, New York State’s concert calendar is filling up fast.
But as we head into the busy spring and summer season, many fans have serious concerns, and they’re not alone.
Ticket Prices Are Reaching Shocking Levels
One of the hottest topics among music fans right now is the rising cost of concert tickets.
Calling it “price gouging” may actually be an understatement. For some high-demand shows, even the worst seats can climb to $1,000 or more on the resale market. Between dynamic pricing models, third-party resale platforms, and overwhelming demand, many fans feel priced out of seeing their favorite artists live.

While Congress and lawmakers debate potential reforms, local communities here in Western New York are taking matters into their own hands, especially online.
Why Some Western New York Facebook Groups Ban the Word “Ticket”
In a local Facebook group based in East Aurora, a recent post from an administrator caught my attention.
The admin asked members not to use the words “ticket” or “tickets” when posting about concerts or trying to sell seats to upcoming shows. Why? Because scammers are actively searching for those keywords.
"Do not use the forbidden "T-word" in posts. It attracts scammers".
Unfortunately, people looking to scam eager concertgoers will do almost anything. What seems like an innocent post asking for tickets can quickly turn into an expensive mistake, or worse, lead someone to share personal information that could be misused.
By limiting certain keywords, group administrators hope to reduce visibility to scammers who monitor public posts for easy targets.
Protect Yourself Before You Buy
As we head into March, the spring and summer concert lineup across Buffalo and New York State looks incredible. But before you hit “send” on that message or transfer money to a stranger online, take a few extra precautions:
- Buy directly from official venue websites when possible
- Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true
- Avoid sharing personal or financial information in private messages
- Follow the rules set by trusted local Facebook group administrators
With a little awareness and common sense, you can still enjoy the excitement of live music in 2026, without paying an outrageous price or falling victim to a scam.
Western New York is in for a huge concert season. Let’s make sure the only thing surprising about it is the encore, not your credit card statement.
