The summer weather continues here in Western New York State and this could be the best time to get out and explore the outdoors and hiking trails in New York State.

The fall begins in just a few days and the cooler mornings and warmer days make for the best conditions to take in all that Mother Nature has to offer and there is some good news from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

For those who live in, or are planing a trip to the Western New York area, a popular hiking destination has gotten some work!

"Valentine Flats parking area and trails in Zoar Valley’s Unique Area reopened today. Necessary trail repair work at the site, which began August 26th, is now completed".

If you plan to check out this great location and it's beautiful trails, the New York State DEC reminds you on their website that: "The only safe gorge and creek access at this time is from the Forty Road parking lot in the Town of Persia. There is no safe gorge or creek access from any location in Erie County or from any location in the Town of Otto, Cattaraugus County".
