We haven't really gotten much snow this winter.  So today's snowfall proved to be unlucky for a local thief who tried to get away from the scene of a crime when his footprints kept police close on his heels.

According to WIVB Channel 4, a thief tried to snag some money from a cash register at the S&G Expressmart on Rt. 75 and Big Tree Road in Hamburg when he was confronted by the store clerk.  After a brief scuffle, the thief left.  The clerk called 911 and had police there within seconds.  Thanks to the snow, the officers were able to track down the criminal less than 5 minutes after the crime took place simply by following his footprints.
