Grilling Burger Temperature Guide [TIPS]
With grilling season upon us, chances are next time you fire up the grill you will have some burgers to cook. So what is the perfect temp for a hamburger? It depends on who is ordering it!
Check out this handy Burger Temperature Guide I found online from Weber Grills.
Burger Doneness | Internal Temp |
Medium Rare | 125-130*F |
Medium | 135-140*F |
Medium Well | 145-160*F |
Well Done | > 160*F |
I like my burgers Medium to Medium Well, so usually when the temp hits 130, I move the burgers from direct heat to the top rack on my grill and let them sit for a couple of minutes. They will continue to cook inside even off direct heat.
If you like a Well-Done burger, check out this tip from Weber's to make sure it is still nice and juicy.
If you must grill burgers well done, make a panade by mashing together 1/2 cup cubed white sandwich bread and 2 Tablespoons milk. Mix the panade with 1-1/2 pounds of ground beef and combine thoroughly before forming patties. The panade will keep the burgers moist even when cooked to well done.
Also, no matter what, you should always cook your burger to at least medium-rare or 125 degrees.
