One of the key good and bad things about living in a state like New York is the governmental infrastructure. If and when you need support and structure, New York's government does a lot to make sure the general well-being is taken care of across the state. However, that also means that from time to time, overreach happens by those in power, and it wrinkles the feelings of the residents.

That most often happens when officials from the state are looking to ban something that people enjoy using or doing. And if there is one thing that New York is good at, it's trying to ban stuff.

From street vendors and gas snow blowers to flavored tobacco and Apple Watches, some people in the Empire State sure know how to ruin a good time. Considering New York has been on such a banning spree over the last few years, it would make sense that fake social media posts that suggest things like tattoos being banned would be taken seriously.

However, it's not always true. Tats are not being banned, and now there is another fake banning law that is floating around the internets.

No, New York Is Not Banning Washing Your Car At Home

If you were to listen to the rumors on the internets, you would think that New York was going to make a major blow to car owners across the state.

According to another fake law going viral on social media, fake New York State Senate Bill s.7677-A and Assembly Bill A.8385-A would ban washing your car at home. That would include washing, waxing, polishing, or any other kind of detailing. The proposed law, called the New York Clean Car Act, would go into effect on July 1, 2028.

However, it's 100% fake.

While it's not that far-fetched if you think about it, New York State actually has no plans on banning home car washing. While there are plenty of things that New York has banned and should actually ban, keeping a clean car isn't one of them.
