It's hard to believe that it's been 1 year since the terrible tragedy on May 14, 2023, took the lives of 10 people and left another 3 with serious injuries. The mass shooting, the first ever to hit the Buffalo region, forever changed the community.

With the arrival of the 1st anniversary of May 14th, the Western New York community has a long list of events to commemorate the day.

What Events Are Scheduled For The May 14th Anniverary?

The May 14th Remembrance Weekend is going to run from Friday, May 12, 2023, through Sunday, May 14, 2023, and will include several events all over the area.

There will be educational seminars, community gatherings, and religious services throughout the 3 days. You can find a full list of the activities right here.

More Events Are Being Added To The List

With the wide impact of the tragedy, there is a growing list of activities that are going to be available during the May 14th Remembrance Weekend. One event that you may want to add to your to-do list is a Pop-up Bookstore that will be available on Jefferson Avenue, near the corner of Landon Street.

Starting at 1 pm on Sunday, May 14th, the Bookstore Pop-up, which is sponsored by Buffalo's Poet Laureate Jillian Hanesworth and the Second Chapter Bookstore, will feature new and gently used books for people at all reading levels.

Because one of the main goals of the May 14th Remembrance Weekend is to help promote learning, community, and remembrance of those that were lost, and the organizers of this pop-up are hoping this will add to those efforts.
