Friday 10/16 is National Boss' Day. You forgot again, didn't you? Well, if you were left in charge of buying the group gift, or you're hoping to get some brownie points on your own, here are some ideas for you.

Do people get gifts for their bosses?

Do you know anyone who gets a gift for their boss for anything? Anytime I think of someone doing this, it reminds me of the scene from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation where Clark is bringing his boss his Christmas gift, and he angrily tells him to "put it over there with the others," then tries to act like he's too busy to talk to him about it.

A lot of the time, companies discourage employees from getting gifts for their superiors. Honestly, it just feels weird. A group gift might make a little more sense than an individual gift. However, if you've got an exceptional boss, you might want to show them that you appreciate them.

Don't go overboard if you plan on buying something

If you do want to get a little something for your boss, it's a pretty good idea to NOT go overboard. Just a little something to show appreciation is what you should be doing. A card is fine. Maybe if you wanted to get them a snack from a local store, or something like some coffee that they could drink on the job, that would be a good idea.

If you decide you'd like to get something for your boss, you've still got some time. There are plenty of local stores here in WNY that are perfect for stuff like that. Check out some of these ones:
