As spring begins to make its presence known in Buffalo, the weekend weather we had in Buffalo was the perfect backdrop for the previewing of a new project that is coming to Buffalo's waterfront.

Canalside in downtown Buffalo has proven to be one of the most popular spots to hang in around Western New York. Buffalo's position on the eastern end of Lake Erie gives us lots of great places to be with direct access to the water, and developing Canalside is by far one of the best investments we've made as a community in many years.

The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation and New York Governor Kathy Hochul made a recent announcement about a new construction project that will be getting underway soon that will continue to develop Canalside into an even better destination.

What's Happeneing At Canalside

The North Aud Block at Canalside has been vacant and ready for development for a few years and officials are taking steps to move forward with development on the site.

The development of the North Aud Block will connect Canalside to Buffalo's established business district and we couldn't be more excited to move forward with a plan for this vacant land. We heard that visitors to Canalside want more amenities, and these projects will provide that, along with an authentic look and feel to this mixed-use, urban space.
-Robert Gioia, Chairman of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation

The new project on the North Aud Block will create a mixture of residential, retail, and commercial spaces in different structures that will be built on the nearly 2-acre site.

The first phase of the project is pegged to cost more than $14 million and will use a combination of private and public money to make bring it all to fruition in partnership with WEDI, MSquared, and Pennrose NY Developer.
