James Cook Wins National Honors Following His Play Last Week
For the second week in a row, the Buffalo Bills have a player being named "player of the week" in the NFL.
People said that the Bills were going to be in a rebuild year. They said that they didn't have the personnel that they needed to be competitive. Granted, it's just two weeks into the season, but the Bills have done a good job proving to people that they have what it takes to win.
Last week it was Gregory Rousseau getting "Defensive AFC Player Of The Week" honors from the NFL. This week, they looked to the other side of the ball and awarded James Cook the "Offensive AFC Player Of The Week"
Normally it's Josh Allen that takes this honor when the Bills play the Dolphins, but this year he didn't have to do quite so much to secure the win. Cook did what he needed to do to punch in 3 touchdowns and rack up 78 yards on the ground and 17 yards in the air. 49 of those yards came on one run.
This was really a win for the whole team though. The offensive line won their battles up front and the defense gave the offense plenty of short fields with turnovers.
The Bills will look to have another player getting national honors against a thirsty Jacksonville team that is still looking for their first win of the season. There's nothing they would love to do more than to come to Buffalo and upset the Bills on their own turf in prime time. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm Monday night on WIVB channel 4 in Buffalo.
