The lake effect snowstorm that has been hitting Western New York is still not over yet.

We have about 24 hours or less of the storm to go, as the lake effect snow band is currently dumping snow in Niagara County, Grand Island and northern suburbs of Buffalo. That band is expected to swing back south late tonight and give some more snow to the City of Buffalo and southtowns, before drifting into ski country.

Orchard Park received the most snow, getting 77 inches as of Saturday morning, while other areas received anywhere from 3-5 feet of snow. South Buffalo, Hamburg, Lackawanna, Blasdell and West Seneca were the hardest hit regions.

You know it's a huge snowstorm when Jim Cantore shows up in your hometown.

Cantore, who is a famous Weather Channel meteorologist and reporter, was in Hamburg and Orchard Park for this historic lake effect snowstorm and has been giving the nation updates on it.

Cantore tweeted a video of him hitching a ride through the snowstorm and wouldn't you know, he was listening to WYRK at the time.

If you're wondering, Jake Owen's recent number one hit, "Best Thing Since Backroads" was playing at the time.

How cool is that?

We wish Buffalo was getting another reason to have national celebrities in Western New York, but there is no community who can handle a historic snowstorm like this, like Buffalo and the surrounding suburbs.

The crews have been working tirelessly since Thursday night to help clear the snow.
