We love Jim Kelly, not only because of his time as a player on the Buffalo Bills, but rather because Kelly continues to find different ways to give back to the community of Western New York.

Back in 1988, Jim Kelly started hosting a youth football camp, called the Jim Kelly Football Camp…and ever since then, it has been an annual staple for a kid’s Buffalo summer.

This week, the three-day Jim Kelly Football Camp returned to Highmark Stadium, welcoming 550 kids to practice on the same field that is home to our Buffalo Bills.

Over the years, the Jim Kelly Football Camp has brought in over 10,000 kids to embrace their love of football. Typically, camp participants are aged 7-14, and Kelly makes sure he covers all the fundamentals of football.

Two big reasons why Jim Kelly loves hosting the camp is: his love of football and being a quarterback, and the chalk talk (drawing up plays, etc.).

Kelly told the Buffalo Bills media team that they “just try to instill in them the right things, the right habits, and how to make it. How to make it in life in general. Just every day that I am here and able to do this, I love it."

Steve Tasker made an appearance as this year’s guest speaker, but that’s not all that the campers got to experience. Each camper also receives a t-shirt, hat, and water bottle, and Jim Kelly signs a football for each and every football to take home after camp is over.

The camp will return next summer, and you can watch for updates here.
