More than two weeks after a more than 12-hour surgery to address the return of cancer in his jaw, Jim Kelly has been released from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.  His daughter Jill Kelly made that announcement on Instagram over the weekend.  "With a swollen smile and a cane in his hand he was DISCHARGED from the hospital today!"

In a 13-minute video released by the hospital on Friday, Dr. Mark Urken, Head and Neck Surgeon at Mount Sinai stated "Mr. Kelly is doing really well.  He's been thru a difficult operation, a difficult recovery.  He's begun to take nutrition by mouth, which is a huge milestone and a segue for him to be able to leave the hospital."

Dr. Urken said Kelly will need a further procedure at a later date to implant teeth.  He expects that he'll make a full recovery with the ability to speak.

Jill Kelly said her father will remain in New York City for the next two weeks, then return home to Buffalo.
