One of my favorite things to do is to discover new restaurants that I have never been to before. Here in Western New York, there are so many amazing local restaurants that it's sometimes hard to keep track. Seriously, you could visit a new place for months straight.

I had the luxury of living in both the northtowns and southtowns. I grew up in north Amherst, but spent a year in Cheektowaga, a few years in Hamburg and now I reside in South Buffalo -- so I've gotten the full Buffalo food scene experience over the last 25-30 years.

Don't overlook new restaurants in Buffalo either, and one of the best I've been to recently is located in Blasdell.

Lake Shore Café is located off Route 5 in Blasdell (near Hamburg) and it's relatively new. It was opened in April of 2021 after the owners purchased the building in 2020 and already making an impression on Blasdell and Hamburg residents.

My fiancée and I were floored by the food. The French onion soup is one of the best variations I have ever had in Buffalo (and I love French onion soup) and the grilled chicken sandwich was awesome.

The cool part is they also serve regular and seasoned fries.

You can tell the interior is brand new and while not a huge building, the staff is friendly and the location is perfect for a new restaurant, since Lake Shore is always busy from people coming in and out of the City of Buffalo.

They're definitely a new, hidden gem in the southtowns.
