The Bills will be starting their training camp tomorrow, and today they got some great news about one of their rookie defensive players.

It was a bit of a shock to a lot of Bills fans last week when the news came that rookie defensive end/edge rusher Landon Jackson had been added to the PUP (Physically Unable To Perform) list.

What does it mean if you're on the PUP List?

There are basically two different designations for the PUP list.  There are Active/PUP and Reserve/PUP.  Players who have been placed on the Active/PUP list normally have injuries that happened during NFL activities before training camp.  That would be the case for Jackson. Those players can participate in team meetings and they can still used all the team facilities but they cannot practice.

Players who are on the Reserve/PUP list have to be decided before the final roster cuts are made. Then they have to sit out the first four games of the regular season.  One thing to keep in mind, though, is that if a player is placed on the Reserve/PUP list before the final cutdowns, he will have to sit out the entire season.

Why was Landon Jackson on the PUP List?

Unfortunately there was never an explanation as to why Jackson was placed on the PUP list. They simply said that he sustained an injury during team activities. However, there was good news today as the Bills get ready to begin their training camp.

It appears to have been a minor injury and he's back in action now.

The Bills have placed a large emphasis on shoring up their defense in the offseason by drafting a couple of defensive linemen, some edge rushers, and signing Joey Bosa from the Chargers.
