Layoffs will begin on June 4 as Rite Aid announces that every single one of its stores in New York State are going to close.

Liabilities for Rite Aid are estimated to be well over 1 billion dollars.

The Rite Aids in New York State have already been struggling as they filed for Chapter 11 twice already. Now, the CEO say that it is time. It is tough out there right now in business. The economy is changing and how people buy things is changing too. Other big retail giants like Big Lots, Kohl's and Party City all took a hit within the past year with 2 of them closing down.

This would not be the first Rite Aid to shut down. A ton of them already have in New York State which meant big savings for customers. At one point, discounts were up to 90% by the time the doors were about to close some locations. You could get everything for a pretty crazy discount except for the gift cards, of course. The major chain announced that after the first round of layoffs begin in the early part of June 2025, the rest of the layoffs will happen sometime later in the year.

When will all of the Rite Aids be closing in New York State?

Sometime by the end of 2025.

There are some many great locally owned pharmacies in Western New York that have such great legacies in the community including the Transit Hill Pharmacy, Larwood in East Aurora, Union Medical in West Seneca and so many more.
