The City of Buffalo Can’t Wait; Fix This Street Now
We're almost through with the 2022-2023 winter season and to say its been one for the ages would be a vast understatement.
The historic lake effect snowstorm in November and Christmas week blizzard was a brutal way to kick off the colder weather months, then Buffalo had a few weeks with hardly any snow, followed by more snow and even an ice storm over the last two weeks. It's been a hard winter and an unusual winter.
The heavy snow means that plows have taken large chunks out of roadways across Western New York, while making the already unkept roads even worse.
One of the worst streets in Western New York is in the City of Buffalo: Louisiana Street.
Louisiana Street runs from Seneca Street to the Empire State Trail and is a popular exit off the I-190 to get to KeyBank Center and the HarborCenter.
However, the bridge on Louisiana Street is a literal disaster. The number of potholes and gaps between the pavement and the bridge dividers are brutal for vehicles. The entire section of the street has been a notorious spot in the region for years.
Luckily, there is help on the way. Last summer, approval of $24 million to help Louisiana Street was approved and that will go towards repairs and connecting neighborhoods to the Buffalo waterfront.
However, the street is so bad it really does need serious work to repair all the damage as soon as possible. It's a major roadway for those getting on and coming off the I-190.
What other roads in Buffalo are in dire need of a complete repaving?
